Playing Catch Up

Hi there!

So I know I have been MIA the past couple of weeks.  Nathan started school in the middle of August and I started classes the week afterwards.  I am taking a full course load online through the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.  In addition to adjusting to Nathan's school schedule and my course load, I still volunteer at my church clothes closet.  As if I didn't already have enough on my plate, I am also part of a Bible study that is being hosted by my friend and I signed up to be a literacy partner at Nathan's school through Education Connection.  Oh and did I mention I will also be coordinating the fun run for his school PTA scheduled for March?  Whew.  Now that I've thrown all that out there, I'm going to try and keep up with my outfit posts but life sometimes has other plans.

Since it's been a while, I thought I would take a break from the books and do a post of some outfits I've worn the past few weeks that I thought were worth posting.

Calson Utility Vest (Size down!   Way down.  This was an X-Small Petite and I think I could have worn a XX-Small Petite.)
Leith Tank Shift Dress (On sale!  I found the last one in my size on the sale rack at my store.  It is a tad long so I had to have it hemmed but since it was already on sale, for me it was worth the cost.)
Indigo Rd. 'Sablena' Bootie These booties were the perfect height to walk around downtown in with my messed up ankle.  It's been 6 weeks and it still bugs me from time to time.)
Kendra Scott 'Nora' Necklace in Rock Crystal

A few weeks ago I had an interview for a part-time stylist position.  Sadly, I didn't get the job but at least I looked cute.  Now that I've had time to reflect on the interview process and the position at Stitch Fix, I am glad I didn't get it.  I think the stress from the job would have stressed me out and affected my school work.  Finishing school is my main priority right now and I don't need any more distractions beyond my current commitment load.  A few notes about the items...

I had my nose in my textbooks all week but on Friday I got together with my girlfriend's to help celebrate the big 4-0 for one of them.  One of the girl's husbands got us a room at the Archer and we spent the day at the spa, ate Thai food at Sway, went clubbing and quickly realized that clubbing wasn't our scene.  We ended up going back to the Archer, sitting in the lobby next to the fire and then calling it a night.  I am the youngest in the group and I was the first one to start snoring.  I'm a 40 year old at heart.  Ha.  I ended up wearing this romper that I had bought off my neighborhood's buy sell page for $4 on my way to meet the girls.  I loved it and it was so comfy.

A few weeks ago, my father-in-law sent me an e-mail a few months ago that Minefaire was coming to town.  Nathan played a lot of Minecraft over the summer and is  obsessed with a Youtuber named Unspeakable.  We knew Nathan would love to meet him but the event organizers hadn't released the lineup.  Finally, two weeks before the show, another parent said they got a text saying Unspeakable was going to do a separate event Saturday night.  So we bought tickets as soon as we were able to.  Nathan doesn't show excitement very often but he was super excited.  We got there late in the day because we knew we were going to be at the convention center and downtown for a long time.  It was great going later because it wasn't as crowded.  My kind of event.  Nathan ended up getting picked to compete in a build battle against other kids up on the stage.  The challenge was to build something they loved in 5 minutes.  He ended up building the Titanic and won.  Ya'll, I've never seen him so happy, not even on Christmas!  Ha.

I'm exhausted.  I'm actually looking forward to sitting in the kitchen with my nose buried in my textbooks this week.  It'll be nice to just be able to sit after this busy weekend.  Hope ya'll have a good week!

I'm a 35 year old working, running and shopping (not necessarily in that order) mom living in the burbs surrounding the beautiful city of Austin with my husband, our very active 5 year old and our rescue dog Buddy. This blog is my little space of the internet where I let my ADD run loose and I blog about...anything.
