How you doin'?

Oh hi there!  How you doin'?  I've been treading water trying to finish school and be a present mom to Nathan.  I took College Algebra last semester that just about killed me and left me questioning my sanity.  In the month of November, I had 15 headache days.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.  I've always known that stress was a trigger for my migraines but there really wasn't a way for me to not stress about algebra.  After lots of trips to the tutoring lab, using the free online tutoring offered through Brain Fuse and lots of late nights I managed to pass with a C.  No more math ever.  *Until I take statistics at some point in the very far future*  This semester Spanish II and Biology seem like a cake walk compared to last semester.  Since it's been so long, I thought I would go ahead take a break from school work and do a phone dump of some of my recent outfits and purchases.  Here we go!

My enabling, shopaholic mother-in-law and I went to Marshall's the other week to get Nathan some more underwear.  We got his underwear but then my mother-in-law convinced me to buy these Lucky Brand booties.  I was a little hesitant to buy them because I'm a sucker for taupe or nude shoes and the gray was outside my shoe color comfort zone.  But she reassured me that they were neutral and they'd go with everything.  And now that I've worn them a few times, I'm glad I listened to her and bought them.  And then they were glued to my feet.

See?  Glued to my feet.

But when I don't have meetings?  Flats and jeans are my go-to.  Thanks school schedule and my lovely migraines, I haven't been able to run as much as I used to.  That meant I ended up gaining some fluff around my midsection.  TWENTY pounds of fluff to be exact.  Now 20 pounds may not seem like a lot to some but for somebody as short as me, it's noticeable and NOTHING fits anymore.  So for Christmas, J gave me his credit card and he let me buy a new wardrobe.  I bought a lot of staples like pencil skirts, sweaters, jeans and this chambray shirt.

It's no secret that I like to shop and I've found a new place to find cute clothes.  COSTCO.  Toilet paper?  Check.  Paper towels?  Check.  Clothes?  Yep.  A few girls from my online mom's group had raved about these Jones New York jeans.  They said they were stretchy but not too stretchy and were an awesome fit.  So as soon as I needed to get more household stuff from Costco, I went and threw the jeans into my cart.  They fit really well.  My only issue as with most pants, is that they are a tad long for me.   But still a bargain for $17.  While I was in the clothing section, I also found this little chambray dress.  Best part was that it was only $13.  It'll definitely be on heavy rotation this spring and summer.

For years my enabling, shopaholic mother-in-law has been telling me that Birkenstocks are good for people like me with funky flat feet.  I never really thought f myself as a Birkenstock kind of person but thanks to Pinterest, I am now obsessed.  I'm still kicking myself for not buying Birkenstocks when they were available at Costco last year.

I mean how cute are those outfits? Then again, Jules can make anything look good.  ANYTHING.  The only hard decision I had was whether to get it in taupe (Have I mentioned I like taupe shoes?), black or splurge and get the rose gold ones.

...I ended up ordering the rose gold and I'm finding they go with a lot of stuff that I already have in my closet.  Only complaint is that the break-in period is killing my feet but I've been told it could take up to a week of constant wear to break them in.  So I've been wearing them every chance I can.

Rose gold won out because I found out really fast that not a whole lot of places had the rose gold and brown soled version.  They have a version that  have white soles which I guess would make them feel more summery but as my enabling, shopaholic mother-in-law said, "they look 80's."  If I ever break these in, I will probably buy another pair in taupe suede.  I could probably even fit my feet into a kid's size.  Is there anything anybody is eyeing for spring/summer?  Okay, off to go study for a biology test.  Only a few more days before Spring Break and I can't wait to spend a few days with J and Nathan.
