Unexpected Dupe

Last year I was so into ponchos that I completely forgot about my vests.  But that won't be the case this year.  We went to Sam's a few weeks back to stock up on Evian.  J's a bit of a water snob so when we found out they sold 12-pack cases for just under $14  compared to $9.18 for a 6-pack, a stock up was in order.  I usually don't pay too much attention to the clothing section at Sam's because they usually don't have my size in anything or the clothes are hideous.  But something on the perimeter of the clothing section caught my eye this time.  On display were Woolrich quilted down vests for only $25.  They looked exactly like the JCrew excursion quilted down vest that are currently $120.

The Woolrich version came in four colors: navy, cream, red and black.  I ended up getting a cream and navy vest.  I was really tempted to get the red one but decided it wasn't as versatile as the navy and cream vests.

Unzipped, the Woolrich vest looked fine on me but when I zipped it, I looked like I was 6 months pregnant.  I don't usually zip my vests up anyway, so that wasn't a huge deal breaker for me.  Since the temperatures are still in the double digits these days (even though today is the first day of fall), I can't review how warm it'll keep me but I imagine that since it is down filled, it should keep me warmer than my polyester filled Old Navy vest from several years ago.  Yet another item that I can't wait to wear this fall and into winter.

So the next time you're at Sam's stocking up on toilet paper, paper towels or water, check out the clothing section.

UPDATE as of 10.05.16-I looked online and if you're a Sam's Club member, you can order this vest online.  So you don't even have to go to the store if you don't want to trudge through the throngs of people doing their Doomsday stock up.  You can order them here.

UPDATE as of 10.12.16-I had to go to Sam's this morning to restock items for my office.  I went to a different location because this one was newer and close to home.  They had the vest in more colors.  They had an olive green color and they also had a black and white buffalo plaid one.  So, it's worth checking different locations.  You never know what one will have over the other.
