Weekend Fun: Making a Splash!

Hope ya'll had a great weekend!  I can't believe it's already over!  This weekend we spent a lot of time in the water.  At least Saturday we did.  We started by going to a birthday party for one of Nathan's little classmates.  He had three parties he was invited to but he wanted to go to this one because his best friend from class was going to be at this one.  The birthday girl's parents ended up renting a bouncy water slide and he loved it.  He went dow it for an hour straight.  When he finally came out he played with his friend to hit the pinata, sing happy birthday and eat some cake.  Then we went home.  He had so much fun playing on the bouncy water slide that he asked if we could go to the pool.  We hadn't gone to the pool since moving to the new house because well...it was winter when we moved in and it's been raining all spring.  But yesterday it was nice and sunny during the party.  So I said sure.   Of course as soon as we got there we saw the very familiar gray clouds rolling in but that didn't stop Nathan from having a good time.

I let him play in the pool for about an hour before I got too cold and I called J to come pick us back up.

Then today was uneventful.  Woke up at 11:30.  Yes 11:30.  It was glorious after waking up at 6:30 yesterday.  Went and got some Torchy's.  Went to Casey's New Orlean's Snow Balls.  Nathan's favorite is their rainbow snowball.  I love their almond joy.  Then were on our way home.  But on our way home we saw something trying to cross the busy road.  We realized it was a turtle but by the time we figured it out, we had to make our turn.  So I told J to turn back around and go save it.  So he did.  The reason we were so adamant about going back to save the little turtle is because we actually have a book called A little backstory. Little Turtle's Big Adventure that we bought at the City Wide Garage Sale when Nathan was a little baby.

It is about a little turtle who has to find a new home when the evil developers come and turn his pond into a road.  And at the very end of the book a little boy finds the little turtle and finds him a new home.

We didn't carry him but we did drive him to the park down the street from the house.

And walked him down to the pond.  I'm sure I got some weird looks from the folks playing tennis and the bikers at the park as I walked down the trail in my Sam Edelman wedges.  When we got to the pond we sat and waited to watch it swim away.

I'm so glad we were able to help the little guy.  Just the other day, I saw a smashed shell of a turtle that didn't make it across the same road because the cars go down it so fast.  So I was glad that wasn't our little turtle.  And that was our weekend.  Bring on another Manic Monday tomorrow.  See ya'll later!

I'm a 35 year old working, running and shopping (not necessarily in that order) mom living in the burbs surrounding the beautiful city of Austin with my husband, our very active 5 year old and our rescue dog Buddy. This blog is my little space of the internet where I let my ADD run loose and I blog about...anything.
