This post is brought to you as we are driving from Austin to go and visit my parents in San Angelo. Might as well since it's a 3.5 hour drive. Longer if our plans of Nathan sleeping theough the trip fails.
Cardigan: New York and Company, Shirt: Target, "Orange" Pants: Jcrew Factory
I apologize if the formatting looks wonky. I'm trying to type this up via the Blogger iHone app and before we lose phone reception. I don't even know what this will look like until I get to my parent's house.
I couldn't pass up posting the fun outfits I wore yesterday and today. So this is going to be a post and run. I've got to get us all packed for a weekend visit to my parents at "The Ranch" out in San Angelo. We're leaving right after work tomorrow in hopes that Nathan will sleep most of the trip. He's not a very happy traveler.
Sweater: Forever21, Skirt: JCPenny, SPANX, Mossimo "Pearce" Pumps
Chambray Shirt: GAP, Dress: Target, Wedges: Banana Republic Factory Store
I hope you all have a great weekend! Toodles!
Manic Monday? Not today. Instead it was a Minty Monday.
Sweater: Forever21, Jeans: Denizen by Levi, Ballet Flats: JCrew Factory
Nathan's outfit-Shirt: Target, Pants, Target, Keens
I think I'm starting to finally get the hang of this whole Monday thing.
Last week the JCrew's online factory store was offering an additional 30% off site wide. I had previously bought the "Minnie" pants from the regular JCrew store but noticed that the factory store had a cut called the "Winnie". After I had bought the "Minnie" for full price I fell in love with them. they were the perfect length and they had just enough stretch to them. So when I saw the "Winnie" on the factory site I was intrigued because they looked the same. Now, I've heard that factory items are lesser quality than the regular merchandise. And I will admit that the few items I have ordered from the factory store did have different material content than the regular versions. As much as I loved the "Minnie" I just couldn't justify spending $90 for a pair of pants. I only bought my first pair because I got a gift card. Sooooo...all that to say that I have been searching for some red pants and when I saw the additional 30% off code, I kind of had to get them. I ended up paying $31 for these pants. Almost a third of the price of the regular ones. They arrived yesterday and the first thing I did was check the tags of both pairs to see what the material content was. The "Minnie" was 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The "Winnie" was also 95% cotton and 5% spandex. So I think it was a win.

Finally my search for red pants is over. Or that's what I thought. After work, I went to Casa de Nana's to go pick up Nathan. As soon as I walked through the door, J and his mom both asked me if I was wearing orange pants. Hmmmmm...I don't think so? Now that I think about it, the color name is "vibrant flame". It is a bit hard for me to tell the difference between black, navy and really dark purple. I often have to ask people at stores what color something is if I can't tell. But I really didn't think I was that color challenged that I would mistake red for orange. I guess it's a good thing I've got my annual eye checkup this weekend. Ha.
We did some yard work yesterday and look, my shoes grew flowers! Now if we could just figure how to make money grow from trees.
Shirt: JCrew Factory Store, Skirt: Old Navy, Wedges: TOMS 'Corbel'
I ordered my first pair of TOMS two years ago when they released their wedges. Then last year I bought the ballet flats and the classics in their "Corbel" pattern. When I ordered the 'Corbel' I had a really hard time deciding because TOMS offered it in the classic and also in their wedge style. I chose the classic style because I figured the pattern would make them a little more fun looking than the non-patterned classic flats. Plus, I heard that the classics are super comfy. And as I get older, my feet could use a little comfort. I loved those flats last year. They were my go-to summer flat.

Heeeeeey. Wait a minute. You thought I got the flats. I did. But a few months ago I was walking through Nordstrom Rack and found the 'Corbel' wedges on sale for a whopping $25.
They were originally $69. The practical side of me said, "Di you already have some shoes in this pattern. Why do you need another pair?!?" But then there was the shopaholic side that said, "Buy the shoes. They're wedges and they're so not the same. And they make you 3 inches taller. Duh." I hesitantly bought them. Kept them in the box with the receipt until I hoped the voices would shut up and leave me alone. Until today, with the high predicted to be 80 degrees I couldn't decide what to wear. And then...AHA. I'll wear my new floral wedges. And so the shopaholic won this time.
...gets mama's ihone. Nathan fell asleep early last night after a day full of running around our backyard like a mini maniac. Maybe giving him that ice cream sandwich during his play date wasn't such a good idea after all. I on the other hand, was not able to fall asleep as easily as him. Why is it so hard to fall asleep at the end of a vacation? I finally got my brain to shut up around 1am but my early bird woke up at 4:30. I was ready to get up with him even though he got nose to nose with me and requested to go play in the living room. So what did I do? I gave him my ihone and he played with it until the alarm finally went off at 6:45. Maybeline Age Rewind, coffee and thin mints were my BFFs today. You can't even tell that I didn't get any sleep last night. Ha.
My vacation with Nathan is coming to an end and I have to go back to work tomorrow It was a very productive time off but we did manage to have fun. Especially after Nathan's birthday present got assembled yesterday courtesy of Nana and Poppy.
Assembly for us was easy because we hired The Swingman to assemble it for us. J and I are not handy at all. He's been assembling nothing but playscapes for more than 20 years so felt like it was best to have somebody with that much experience put it together because like I said, we're not handy. The thought of this structure falling apart scares the crap out of us. Nathan was so excited to see it being assembled outside. He kept going to the window and declaring that he was ready to go play on his playground. So eight hours later, The Swingman informed us that the playground was ready and that we could release the toddler.
Gee...you think he likes it?
So Friday was Nathan's birthday so I didn't manage to post my outfit in order to spend time with him on his big day. He only turns three once. But I just couldn't pass up posting Friday's outfit because I'm just going to say it. It was FABULOUS if I do say so myself.
Top: Lela Rose (Neiman Marcus+Target collaboration), Skirt: Warehouse from Asos (similar here and here), Wedges: Banana Republic Factory Store
Outfits for this week will be sparse because this week is Spring Break and I decided to stay home with Nathan for a few days and to get a few things done around the house. More on that to come tomorrow. Hopefully one of the big projects gets completed tomorrow. I better go get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day.
When I first started dating J, he always associated people with songs. So he automatically assigned 'Dirty Diana' to me. Weirdo I tell ya. I still don't think I've ever listened to the whole song. Fast forward to this morning. I walked into the office and caught up with THE guy in the office. Afterwards he took one look at my booties and said, "Nice boots. They look like the boots Michael Jackson wore in the 'Bad' video."
Sweater: Forever21, Pants: JCrew, Booties: Shoemint
As soon as I got to my desk, I turned to good ole Google and...
Well I'll be. So now I've got a mish mash of MJ songs stuck in my head. I guess I should be happy that I'm no longer humming the chicken dance.
So it's no secret that I'm obsessed with PInterest. So when I saw Tara wear this outfit I totally knew I could add my own flair to it.
Cardigan: GAP, Shirt: Forever21, Skirt: JCrew, Boots: Steve Madden "Intyce"
Dress: Old Navy, Shoes: Talbots
I bought this dress back on a frigid day back in January and planned on wearing it when it warmed up this spring. I guess spring has sprung and this winter is a wrap.
